Who coined the drink Fresca?

My mother told me in the 60's that my Great-Aunt Betty Stephens Grunholzer of Ft. Meade, FL won a contest that became the name for the grapefruity drink, but I cannot prove this. Does anyone know if this is true or can anyone elaborate?
